Shore Haven is our beach house in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It sits directly on the sand on the west side of town, a few steps from Little Lagoon Pass, with four bedrooms, four bathrooms and room for up to 10. Large windows and sliding glass doors bring the Gulf right into the house, so sunrise and sunset are part of every day. Here’s what makes it special.
Two suites facing the water
Both master suites face the Gulf, and both have king beds. The downstairs suite has its own bathroom with a walk-in shower and double sinks, plus sliding doors straight onto the main deck. The upstairs suite opens onto a private gulf-front balcony, which is the best seat in the house once everyone else has gone to bed. A third bedroom has another king, and the fourth is a fun room for the kids, with a twin-over-full bunk and a queen bed. With four bathrooms for four bedrooms, mornings don’t turn into a queue.
A deck across the whole house
The main deck runs the width of the house, with sun and shade, lounge chairs, a dining table and an unobstructed view of the water. Most guests start their day out here. As Adriana put it after her stay, “We loved having our morning coffee on the deck listening to the ocean waves!”
A kitchen stocked the way a family needs
Sandra travels with a large family herself, so the kitchen is set up for real cooking: a full-size fridge, pots and pans, spices, a coffee and tea bar, and enough plates and serveware for a crowd. Eat at the breakfast bar or the dining table, or carry everything out to the deck. Denver called it “one of the best stocked kitchens available.”
Open living with a view
The living room has high ceilings, three couches and loveseats, locally inspired artwork and sliding doors to the deck, so you can watch the Gulf from the sofa. Susan said it best: “I especially enjoyed sitting in the living room with the high ceiling watching the waves.”
